Longtime sweethearts Brittany and Walter combined her Southern roots with his Caribbean heritage to create a unique and unforgettable wedding day. Just look at all the fun they had!
“Antecia Akhi, a family friend, did my hair and Danyelle Carroll (msdanti on youtube) did my makeup,” Brittany tells us. “They really made a great team!”
“I realized that he was the one that I wanted to share a future with and start our own little family together,” says Brittany. “He knew how important my family is to me and we both discovered that it is one of the values that we share.”
“Maggie Sottero designed my dress,” says Brittany. “What I thought would be a difficult experience, was one of the easiest parts of the wedding planning process.”
A gorgeous bouquet for a gorgeous bride. Supposey Wedding Florals is to thank for this masterpiece.
Walter and his groomsman had the time of their lives on the big day.
“I never expected to find my true love at a frat party in college or date a Que (my dad is an Alpha and he told me to stay away from those guys…lol),” Brittany admits. “But God has a funny way of giving me exactly what I need at the right time. He knew that I needed a companion like Walt to guide me through life and grow with.”
“The dress is designed by Dessy in the color Persian plum,” says Brittany. “I knew that I wanted that particular shade of purple from the beginning. It was the perfect shade of bright purple and really looked amazing on brown girls. I wanted a dress that was flattering on all shapes and sizes. I also wanted to make sure that it was formal and also conservative enough for a church wedding, but sassy enough for a formal wedding.”
“We basically grew into adulthood together (started dating when we were 21) and I would not be the woman I am today had it not been for him,” says Brittany. “He understands me and is my calming force. He always tries to put me first and treats me the way that a man should always treat a lady. He is my protector.”
Brittany and her girls looked absolutely perfect on the big day!
“It felt amazing to be a bride,” says Brittany. “It was everything that I expected it to be because I got to marry the love of my life and celebrate with all of our loved ones all at the same place. All of our guests were so excited and the atmosphere was unexplainable. I felt so calm on that day and I’m usually a type A, worrier but it just genuinely felt right.”
“I said yes because he is the true love of my life, my best friend,” says Brittany. “He is the man that God created just for me.”
A custom aisle lined with flowers welcomed the bride and groom on the big day.
“My dad walked me down the aisle,” Brittany tells us. “Everybody knows that I am a major daddy’s girl. He is my best friend. I think it was hard to give his baby girl away, but he was able to hold it together and not shed a tear until he sat down.”
“Our favorite memories were reciting our personal vows to each other and seeing each other for the first time at the altar,” says the bride.
“Our absolute favorite pictures are of the ceremony that capture Walter crying when I walked down the aisle and me crying when I met him,” Brittany tells us.
Both Walter and Brittany were overwhelmed with emotion at the altar.
“We cried when we said our vows,” says Brittany. “Walter actually started crying once the music started playing for me to walk down the aisle, before he even saw me. His frat brothers still joke with him about it.”
The couple dated for five years then Walter popped the question. Just look at Brittany’s bridal glow!
“I chose to make Brittany my wife because she is not only my lover, but my friend,” says Walter. “We could do anything together and make it fun!”
“Our wedding cake was so yummy!” Brittany recalls. “We chose the style of the cake because we wanted it to be grand and include different shapes, but also elegant. Betty Weber Cakes made our cake and it tasted like a grandma baked it because she is a sweet older lady that enjoys baking cakes.”
The couple chose tropical flowers for their reception decor.
Now this is what we call a groom’s cake! So unique. Shout out to the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
