When the time is right, love always finds a way. Courtney first met Sean in gym class back during their high school days, but it wasn’t until they randomly crossed paths 10 years later that their romance was born. See their modern wedding day!
“I didn’t want to wear a veil because I felt like it was too traditional,” says Courtney. “I wanted to do something different, so I did some research to see what other options I had. That’s when I found the headpiece and I knew it would be perfect because it was different and it was kind of Gatsbyish. My mother in law gave me bracelets and a pair of earrings to wear. Sean bought me the gold Michael Kors strappy heels that I wore.”
“Maggie Sottero designed my dress,” says Courtney. “The style of the dress was called Divina. It was not difficult searching for and selecting the dress. A while ago I had come across a picture of the dress in blush and I loved it. When I got engaged I knew I wanted to try on that dress.”
“What I love most about Sean is that he’s patient and calm,” says Courtney. “Anyone who knows me would say that having patience isn’t necessarily my strong point. And collected? No! I tend to stress out about a lot of things. But when it comes to life, Sean is patient, never quick to react to things. He’s level headed and collected which helps me gather myself in situations when I need to be more calm then reactive. His personality complements mine in so many ways. I also love how caring he is. He puts my needs and my daughter’s needs before anything. He is truly a selfless man. I’ve never met a man like him.”
“My bouquet was made up of ivory roses and calla lilies,” Courtney explains. “My bridesmaids had bouquets made of ivory roses.”
Courtney’s bridesmaids wore super cute matching silk robes.
“I would describe the man I married as patient, kind, smart, amazing, compassionate, honest, trustworthy, and my best friend,” says Courtney.
Sean was jumping for joy to become Courtney’s husband. We love that!
“The bridesmaids had a different designer for each dress,” says Courtney. “I chose black for them to wear because it’s elegant and I wanted them to purchase a dress they would want to wear again. Besides, every girl needs a black dress in their closet.”
“I said yes to Sean because I knew he was the love of my life,” Courtney tells us. “It didn’t take me long to know that. Life with him in it seemed simple. It was easy. He was truly a breath of fresh air. Throughout our journey, I had realized that everything I went through had prepared me for him. He was a blessing who showed me that real love really existed and that I was worthy to have a wonderful man in my life. How could I go on with life without him? Another reason why I said yes was because I knew Sean was ready to not only love me for a lifetime but he was ready to love my daughter as well. It never scared him that I had a child already. Instead, he looked at it as a package deal.”
Courtney and her daughter Reagan share a sweet photo shoot on the big day.
Courtney and her lovely bridesmaids were flawless on her big day.
“She constantly goes out of her way to do little things to tell me and show me how much she loves me or is thinking of me,” says Sean. “I love how selfless, thoughtful and caring she is.”
Courtney’s daughter Reagan had a special message for Sean on her way down the aisle. Um, we can’t think of a cuter sign for any little lady to carry down the aisle?
“Our intentions were to write our own vows, but, as life would have it, the day before the wedding, neither of us had found the time to sit down and write them,” says the bride. “So we decided to go with one of the options the officiant (Sean’s Uncle) had given us. Although they weren’t written by us, they were still very much heartfelt and meaningful. Words to remember and promises to keep forever.”
“OMG! Looking into his eyes was powerful,” says the bride. “Although everyone was in the room, there was a bit of it that seemed like it was just he and I. That’s the best way I can describe it. There was something about that moment that was moving. Here we were, after meeting in high school, going our separate ways for ten years, reuniting, we were standing before each other, God, our family and friends, making a commitment for a lifetime. It was truly a moment I won’t forget.”
“I definitely did not expect to find love nor was I looking for it at the time,” Sean admits. “It all just happened out of nowhere and I’m so glad that it did.”
The couple chose the beach for the background on their epic day.
“Did I think I would find true love? No Way!” Courtney tells us. “Really, I wasn’t convinced that there was such a thing.”
“I knew Sean was ‘the one’ early on in our relationship when I stood at my dresser and thought to myself ‘OMG is this the guy I’m going to marry?,’” says Courtney. “Never in my life did a thought like that cross my mind before. It totally freaked me out. That’s when I knew something was happening to me. As time went on and he continuously showed me consistency and that he meant what he said when he said he was in this for real, I knew he was it. The man I had hoped to have in my life.”
“We went for a black and gold theme with deco touches,” says the bride. “We used that theme for our save the dates, wedding invitations, décor, linens, and cake topper.”
“The format of our ceremony was pretty traditional,” says Courtney. “Initially, our ceremony was scheduled to be outside. However, there was a threat of a thunderstorm the day of the wedding at the same time our ceremony was scheduled to start. The morning of the wedding, we had to make an executive decision about what we were going to do. We decided to bring it indoors. Not a bad a choice at all because as I walked down the aisle inside, it was storming outside.”
From the romantic lighting to the regal tables, Courtney’s planner Carrie Zack outdid herself in bringing the couple’s details together. Wow!
One hundred and twenty guests enjoyed an elegant and beautifully decorated reception dinner in the couple’s honor.
“I knew very early on in our relationship that I loved Courtney and not long after that I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her,” says Sean. “She is my best friend, the absolute love of my life, and everything I could have ever hoped for. She is an amazing woman and I am beyond excited that she is now my wife. I am the happiest I have ever been because of Courtney.”
“Liquid DJs provided the DJ, wedding emcee and the lighting for the reception,” says Courtney. “We had an Instagram cutout made that was used as a photo prop by our guests. They loved it from what we were told. At the end of the night, someone carried around two big baskets that had giant sunglasses, as assortment of glow sticks, bracelets and necklaces in them for our guests.”
