“I knew he was The One when we were sitting around having a conversation in my living room one day and he said that I was a blessing to him,” says the bride. “No other man has ever said that to me, or about me. He was just different from the other men I had ever dated.”
Darilyn and her lovely bridesmaids posed pretty for the cameras.
“My dress was from the Roses collection by Reem Acra,” says the bride. “It was not difficult at all. I already knew the style I was looking for which was a sheath style. My second dress (my party dress), by For Love & Lemons, was a short dress with crochet overlay and sheer netting underneath.”
“I wore champagne Jimmy Choo flats for the ceremony and violet Badgley Mischka heels for the reception to go with my second dress,” says Darilyn. “I also wore sparkling drop earrings and a tennis bracelet. My birdcage veil, I found on Etsy.”
The bride’s lovely floral bridal robe made for gorgeous “getting ready” photos.
The draped back on Darilyn’s gown nearly took our breath away.
“My husband is the most giving, intelligent, ambitious, God-fearing, fun, handsome, and loving man you will ever know,” says the proud bride.
“I knew she was ‘The One’ when we went to brunch for the first time,” says Terrance. “This led to us walking and talking about our life experiences throughout the course of the day. She expressed her love for family, which revealed nurturing qualities about her, such as liking to cook, entertain and travel. Those were the qualities I was looking for in a wife, plus the main quality was that she came from a two parent household just like I did.”
“For my bouquet, I had two tone calla lilies in deep violet and cream,” Darilyn shares. “For my bridesmaids, I had a mixture of lisianthus (lizzes), roses and hydrangeas in different shades of purple.” A perfect pairing!
“I always had hope that my true love was out there somewhere and felt that every guy I had dated in the past was preparing me for him,” says the bride. “I would pray every night for God to place me in the path of my future husband. I just did not think my husband would be right under my nose living literally right next door to me.”
“The bridesmaid dresses were by Watters from Macy’s Bridal Suite,” Darilyn shares. “I wanted my matron and maids of honor in a different shade of purple from my bridesmaids. I also wanted them to show their legs so I chose a cocktail style dress.”
“My husband chose the men’s attire,” says Darilyn. “The designer for my husband’s wedding and reception look was Miguel Wilson in Atlanta. He wanted a clean, modern, euro-cut look with flower lapel pins for the boutonnières. All the men in the bridal party rented Calvin Klein shawl collared tuxedos from Men’s Warehouse. For the ceremony, they kept it simple with black bow ties and for the reception, they changed into purple velvet bow ties that my husband gifted to them to match his reception tuxedo jacket.”
Terrance got a “first look” at his lovely bride before the guests got to see her in her stunning gown.
“My husband is such a family man and he treats me like a queen,” Darilyn shares. “He is very giving and looks out not only for his people, but for my people as well. He has the same values as me. We are similar in many ways such as our background and how we were both raised. He is also always introducing me to new things and keeps a smile on my face.”
“We had a trolley transport our bridal party and our guests to and from the hotel to the venue,” Darilyn shares.
Everyone was dressed to impress on the couple’s big day, especially these little ladies.
“It felt great to be a bride and feel like a celebrity for a weekend,” gushes the bride. “It was the best weekend ever!”
A gorgeous group shot that’s just waiting to be framed.
“I never thought finding love would happen like it did,” says Terrance. “My true intentions were just to go to brunch that day.” And, now look how lovely that turned out. Just go with it, ladies!
A custom sign helped guests find the couple’s romantic ceremony location.
The couple made great use of their engagement photos for their programs and throughout other aspects of their wedding.
Darilyn chose to walk down the aisle to her husband’s favorite song, “Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This” by Rachelle Ferrell and Will Downing. “My daddy walked me down the aisle,” she adds. “I am his baby girl and we both have been waiting for this day to come.”
“My cousin Bernard Glover officiated our wedding,” says Darilyn. “My husband and I wanted someone close to marry us.”
“Being a groom was all that and exhilarating because both of our families were together to experience our love for each other,” says Terrance.
“My eyes did well up looking into his eyes at the altar, but I was able to hold back my tears after I thought about how long I sat in the chair getting my makeup done,” Darilyn reveals. “My husband cried during our first look and during the ceremony.” Aww!
We love it when a couple uses their engagement photos to set the mood at their reception. Well played you two!
“My wife is very organized, loving, nurturing and beautiful,” brags the happy groom.
Romantic lighting and gorgeous tablescapes helped to set the mood for love at the couple’s fairytale reception party.
“My husband and I danced to a mix of love songs: ‘All This Love’ by El Debarge, ‘Tender Love’ by Force M.Ds, ‘Love, Need and Want You’ by Patti LaBelle and ‘The Look in Your Eyes’ by Frankie Beverly and Maze, which really brought our guests to the dance floor,” says the bride.
Terrance’s groom’s cake was designed in the shape of a crate of records featuring his favorite hip-hop group, A Tribe Called Quest, with a Green Bay Packers football flag on the side. (His favorite team.) We love it!
