“I selected my dress based on my grandmother’s reaction,” says Germaine. “She said it was the one, so that was reason enough for me. I loved my dress. It felt and looked great.” If grandma cosigns? How could you go wrong? Aww!
“I knew my husband was the one for me when we would sit on the phone for hours just talking,” Germaine shares. “We would talk about life and what we wanted out of life and a relationship. We share so much in common it is easy to sit and talk to him. Our conversations are very mentally fulfilling. We both knew what we wanted and appreciated the struggle it took to get to that point. I appreciate being in his presence. He is a breath of fresh air. He is everything I envisioned my husband to be. I knew from our first long conversation he was the one for me.”
“I wanted a modern and classic theme,” says the bride. “My bouquet was made of red roses provided by the resort and I added embellishments to enhance the simple but elegant red roses.”
“My something new, of course, was my dress, my borrowed and something blue came from my grandmother,” says Germaine. “It was a gold and blue emerald locket that was owned by my deceased aunt. I clipped it on the inside of my dress in honor of my aunt.”
“I chose her because I felt like God placed her specifically in my life to be my wife and I truly believed that,” says Charlie. “The way that we responded to each other was magical and what absolutely sealed the deal was the relationship she developed with my son.”
“My shoes were simple, ivory, peak-top heels with an embellished pieces on the top of the shoe,” shares the bride.
“My wife is strong, dedicated, loyal, smart, beautiful and most of all a very loving with an unselfish spirit,” Charlie tells us.
“I love that he makes me feel like his family,” says Germaine. “I love that I can call him my best friend. I love that with him I’m my best and together I feel we are great. I truly feel me and my husband complement one another perfectly.”
“I wanted my wedding to be classic and elegant,” says Germaine. “I went with the Rocker Chic collection. This wedding collection played with black and white patterned accents and just a hint of color that made the whole setting pop. I changed the roses to red instead of pink. My colors for the wedding as a whole played on classics. Black, white, “rose” red and charcoal grey. It was beautiful! If I had to do it all over I wouldn’t change a thing.”
“I could not have dreamed that it would have felt so great,” says Charlie. “I’m glad I had never thought about it because it was a living dream for me, every time I look at a picture from the wedding it looks like a dream to me, just beautiful.”
We love to see a happy bride. Germaine was absolutely one of them. “Being a bride was a dream come true for me,” Germaine recalls. “Not only that day, but every moment leading up to our ceremony was a special experience. Planning your wedding is a great experience and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
“I said yes because he showed me a hard-working man who was not only God-fearing but family driven,” says Charlie. “His ambition was what attracted me and his follow through is what kept me interested. He showed me what a great father looks like as I witnessed him and his son. He persuaded me to believe in the concept of love again.”
“My husband is a God-fearing man above all, loving, affectionate, handsome, funny, hard working and ambitious,” says the bride. “All of the qualities I admire and what attracted me to him initially.”
The bridesmaids’ gorgeous gowns were found at David’s Bridal. “I loved the classic look of the dresses and it matched my theme and color scheme perfectly,” says the bride.
The resort provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s big day.
“I didn’t really believe in true love before meeting my wife,” says Charlie. “I planned on being single for the rest of my life based on past relationships and dates I had been on.”
“Even before we were engaged we discussed having a destination wedding,” says Germaine. “In deciding the venue I did my own research and we reviewed our options together. We decided on Punta Cana because we wanted our wedding somewhere we both had never been and wanted to visit. We choose the Hard Rock based on the reviews and accommodations. Ultimately the Hard Rock offered everything I wanted in regards to the wedding and our honeymoon.”
Germaine’s father passed away, so she asked her grandfather to do the honor of walking her down the aisle.
The bride walked down the aisle to Beyonce’s “1+1.” We bet there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
“Looking into his eyes at the altar I felt grateful and overjoyed,” says Germaine. “Seeing the tears fall from his eyes made me feel ultimate love and appreciation for him on this day. His eyes displayed genuine emotion, and in that moment, I was completely confident this was the best decision I have ever made.”
Germaine admits that tears were shared at the altar when they exchanged traditional vows.
“Wow, it was like looking into my future, when I was looking into her eyes,” says Charlie. “All I could think about was forever and everything in between. I felt very lucky to find my soul mate because I know for everyone that’s not possible and I really felt like I won the happiness lottery. I know with her by my side we will bring each other ultimate happiness.”
“What I love most about my wife is our commonalities,” says the groom. “We literally finish each other sentences. I love everything about my wife. I cannot choose one quality over another, I always thank God for having her to share my life with.” Is he a keeper or what?
As wedding reception venues go, it doesn’t get any dreamier than the couple’s seaside location.
The couple chose to hold each other close and sway to Kenny Lattimore’s “For You” for their first dance as husband and wife.
Complete with a delicious cake and a great dance party, the couple’s wedding reception was a hit!
