“It was an amazing experience from start to finish,” shared Aisha. “On the day I just wanted to be calm and enjoy every moment. During our prep time we played upbeat gospel and praise music and everyone was dancing and laughing. No stress, no worry. It was important to me to go into my marriage filled with the spirit, I didn’t want any secular music or anything that was not of God.”
“The morning leading up to the wedding was great,” Justin shares. “The only weird thing was things were happening and I wanted to tell Aisha. Nothing serious but little things like “Guess what happened at the coffee shop” or “No one can tie my bow tie.” I just wanted to talk to her, be around her. I realized that she is who I share things with, not just big things but everything. I was ready to get to her so I could talk to my friend.”
Aisha received some very special well wishes of love from the people in her life who matter most the morning of her wedding!
Aisha had a bit of a horror story when shopping for her wedding dress after one shop owner told her she was “too hippy” to try on a dress she spotted. Feeling completely defeated, she went home crying with thoughts that she would have to postpone for big day. Fortunately, her groom stepped in giving her the vote of confidence and the nudge of love that she needed to find the perfect dress for her to say “I Do” in.
“Two things: He loves God and has a true desire to live right under the word,” said the bride of the things she loves most about her groom. “He prays with me and for. He runs after the word and Christ with passion. Then he is so resourceful, he will literally figure anything out. From completely taking apart a car and putting it back together to perfectly putting up a TV with no mount only a piece of wood.”
Aisha spent her big day surrounded by nothing but love and plenty of smiles!
After Justin asked Aisha to be his wife, she was so excited she tackled him him! The bride shares she was so overwhelmed with excitement she didn’t know what else to do.
“I chose Aisha to be my bride because she possessed everything that I had been looking for,” explains Justin. “In short, Aisha is just someone that I vibe with on almost every level. Spiritually, emotionally and physically. She is intelligent, outgoing, caring and fun.
I think the fact that I didn’t really have a reason not to made me ask for her to marry me. That’s somewhat oversimplified but true. Is that to say Aisha is perfect? No and I’m sure she would tell anyone who asks that. That said, she was perfect for me so I asked and she said yes.”
“He’s genuine, honest, resourceful, hardworking, loving, God-fearing, intelligent, adventurous, conservative, fun, protective, sexy as heck!,” says Aisha of Justin.
Aisha’s mom gave her a helping hand before she prepared to marry the man of her dreams.
“I love the pictures before the ceremony when we prayed together,” recalls Aisha. “It was important to do that, just he and I but still not have a first look. The excitement, curiosity and intimacy of those moments was really special.”
“During the ceremony the mister said, ‘through sickness and health’ however, Justin repeated ‘thickness and health’ to which I replied, ‘Well, I am thicker than a mug too,'” recalled Aisha jokingly.
Justin and his groomsmen wore superhero t-shirts under their wedding day attire which Aisha didn’t know of until the reception.
Aisha’s baby brother played a very big part in her big day and during the reception on of her favorite wedding bloopers comes courtesy of him. “When I throw the bouquet my younger brothers girlfriend caught it. I jokingly went to get it back because my brother is my baby. It was funny and everyone laughed. Then he caught the garter which was weird and everyone took pictures of my face while my baby brother put the garter on her leg. Awkward!”
“Justin is the best person I know,” said Aisha. “He is genuine and always does what’s right despite the opinion of others. He is honest and goes out of his way to show love in his way. Most importantly I trust him with my life. When I hug him I take my feet off the ground and hang on him. He always gives me a look like ‘again’ but I do it because I trust that he would never let me fall. Even if it was unexpected. He would be there to hold me up.”
“Truthfully I had my doubts about finding true love but then I met Aisha and all of that changed.”
“I love that she is very determined but not so serious that we can’t enjoy each other,” shares the groom.
“I was getting settled in the mindset of being a 30something with a great career, Chanel bags and a fabulous condo in the city. I stopped comparing my story to everyone else and started to be happy in me and what I had. Then out of the blue I was in Georgetown shopping one day, got my hair done and got a call about a party from my best friend. Now here we are,” of the moment she found true love with Justin.
For their first dance, Aisha and Justin swayed to Luther Vandross’ “If This World Were Mine.”
Aisha and Justin had a 3 tier wedding cake with red velvet and vanilla flavor options. Yum!
Full of glamour and romance, Aisha and Justin’s big day was love overload!
