Bridal Bliss: Kendell And Leleah's New York Wedding Was Like A Spring Dream

“I was elated to be a bride, but I’m even happier to be Kendell’s wife,” admitted Leleah. “My parents were extremely proud and happy for this day, and that brought me great joy. As much stress and planning that went into the event, I woke up that morning extremely calm. All of my married friends stressed the importance of being in the moment and enjoying the day because it goes by so fast; they were absolutely right.”

“I actually had a lot of fun trying on wedding dresses. Once I tried my wedding dress for the first time, I knew I found the dress. Since I tried this dress on early in the process, I kept searching. In the end, there was no other dress that gave me the same feeling as the one I chose for the wedding day. My mom flew into New York in December 2014, and we went to Kleinfeld’s for our ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ moment. I narrowed down my search to less than five dresses and my mom cried once she saw the dress on me. I knew I had to have it for my wedding day.”

“Kendell is such a thoughtful, considerate and selfless man who always puts other people’s feelings and emotions before himself,” said the bride when asked to describe her groom. “Kendell is also jovial, and always keeps a smile on my face.”

“She is gorgeous, independent, caring, loving, super smart and she always laughs at my jokes,” said the groom of his gorgeous bride.

“I am not a fan of flowers so looking for floral arrangements was my least favorite wedding activity but my bridal bouquet had white mini calla lilies, clusters of peach Chablis spray roses, champagne rose with crystals in the center. It was beautiful!”

“I have to be honest, after being together for three years Leleah asked me what I was waiting for,” said the groom. “She’d jokingly say ‘you know you’re stuck with me!’ I knew I loved her and wanted to share our lives together, so there was no need to continue dragging my feet.”

“Kendell is everything and more that I prayed for in a man and I know that God placed us in each other’s lives at the moment when we were both ready for each other,” said the bride. “There was no question or hesitation in saying yes to Kendell’s proposal.”

“It has to be her unwavering support,” said the groom about what he loves most about his bride. “It’s always about us not her or I as individuals.”

“What I love most about my husband is his love for life and how he sees more in me than I see in myself,” Leleah admitted. “Kendell always encourages me to be my best self. When I struggled during graduate school and work, Kendell was there to support me every step of the way. “

“I knew Kendell was ‘The One’ for me when I couldn’t imagine myself without him. During Hurricane Sandy when we were stuck indoors and uncertain of the storm’s impact, there was no other place I wanted to be. During happy occasions and major life events, I wanted to share these moments with Kendell. There was no other person that made me feel as safe and secure as Kendell.”

“I also love that Kendell’s personality is the complete opposite of mine and that he is willing to challenge my thoughts and opinions without passing judgment.”

“I know this is going to sound cliché but from the moment I saw her walk through the door at my brother’s BBQ,” said the groom. “I knew I had to get her name and number so I could see her again.”

“It was amazing looking into her eyes at the altar,” the groom admitted. “I felt as if it all came together at that moment. After five years of ups and downs, it was all worth it.”

Although the couple had 160 guests at their wedding, the two were so happy throughout the day it often felt like they were the only people in the room!

“Kendell and I walked into the reception to the instrumental version of “International Players Anthem” by UGK,” said the bride. What a great song choice!

On their big day, the couple shared their first dance as husband and wife to “Share My Life” by Kem.

“We chose a vanilla cake with vanilla filling. The cake had four tiers and each tier had crystals wrapped around the bottom.”
