Kim was blown away by Ramon’s surprise proposal in New Orleans: “Favorite city, favorite restaurant, and favorite man? Yes, please!”
“I knew that I wanted a unique dress and decided on blush as my wedding dress color fairly early on,” Kim tells us about how she found this lovely Stella York gown. “It only took me three bridal shops to find it and it was perfect! My mom, dad, aunt and wedding planner were all with me that Thanksgiving weekend that I found The One. I put it on and immediately knew it was for me. I felt like a princess and a true bride.”
The closer we get to Kim’s ballgown, the more in love we are with each detail.
“I love his humor and his dedication to being the best man he can be,” says Kim of her new husband Ramon. “It truly carries over to all aspects of his life.”
“My hair stylist from Washington D.C. flew down to New Orleans to do my hair,” says the bride. “Her work is fabulous and if anyone is in the D.C. area they should check her out. Tracie Turner, creator of Face by Trace, based in New Orleans, did my makeup and she had me looking just like a princess doll. I loved the work she did so much, it was transformative.”
“How else does one find their hairstyle but through Pinterest?” jokes the bride. “I searched bridal pictures forever and decided to go with a half up half down style for my ceremony. As it was an evening wedding in July, I transitioned to a side bun for the reception to allow me to dance without being so hot.”
“I had all but given up on love before Ramon came along and it took a while for me to believe again in it,: Kim shares. “I think over time we truly grew as friends first and I saw his character and realized that I loved that so much about him. This continued to grow into an amazing true love.”
“For my accessories, I chose a simple comfortable strapped heel from David’s Bridal and I went with a long elbow veil with lace around the edges to match my wedding dress lace,” says Kim. “I had a lot of detail on my wedding dress so opted for a simple set for my earrings and necklace with lots of sparkle to match the champagne belt of my dress.”
Kim and her lovely bridesmaids wore silk robes on the morning of the big day.
“I wore a new dress, an old garter, and borrowed a blue handkerchief from one of my bridesmaids,” Kim shares.
“Her selflessness to those in need is her most admirable quality,” says Ramon, “But I love who she is behind closed doors. Being with her at her most casual moments and seeing how much love and care she has inspired me to be a better man.”
“He is ‘my person,’” says the bride. “He loves me in spite of all of my faults and although we are very different personalities, we fit together perfectly.”
“My bouquet was ivory, champagne and blush roses with pearl centers tied with white satin ribbon,” Kim tells us. “The bridesmaids had ivory, blush and mauve roses with tied gold satin.”
Even the bridesmaids’ bouquets were fierce from ever angle. We love it when brides take bride in their floral selections.
“The bridesmaids chose their own dresses,” Kim says. “I was not picky about what I wanted them to wear, so we decided on ivory since I would wear a blush dress and after that they did the rest. They chose dresses from After Six and had different styles based on their body shapes and what they felt most comfortable wearing. They all looked fabulous!”
“The groom chose Men’s Wearhouse for his attire as they had locations around the country which was much easier for the groomsmen,” says the bride. “I let him choose whatever he would like to wear and he went with simple black tuxedos and white shirts. The guys looked great and the groom did a wonderful job choosing the outfits.”
“Avery and Iris were my beautiful flower girls and they did an awesome job,” says Kim.
“We decided on our venue based on the location and sentimental value,” says Kim. “The Hyatt French Quarter is in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans and it was also the hotel we stayed at on the weekend we got engaged. We knew it would be a great location for our guests right in the mix of everything.”
The couple’s flower girls made way for the lovely bride to march down the aisle.
“He cried as soon as he saw me start walking down the aisle and his outpouring of emotion affected me so much that I started crying (which I NEVER do),” Kim tells us. ‘“It was emotional and touching.”
“My father walked me down the aisle and I would have it no other way,” says the bride. “He has had some health issues in the past and I was blessed to be able to share this moment with him. He is my joy and the best dad a girl could ask for.”
Romantic candles led the way to the altar for the bride and groom.
“Besides my deep love for her, I felt that she had all the qualities that would make her an excellent wife,” admits Ramon.
“I would describe her as loving, intelligent, passionate and selfless,” says Ramon.
“The ceremony flowers were huge bouquets of white hydrangeas and ivory roses on classic white columns,” says Kim. “Reception table centerpieces were a combination of beautiful white hydrangeas and ivory roses on glass trumpet vases alternating with cylinder vases with floating candles.”
The couple selected Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” for their first dance as husband and wife. “Which I felt was perfect for us,” adds the bride.
“I absolutely adore roses so they were everywhere,” Kim exclaims. “It also helped because they hold up very nicely in the summertime – a must for New Orleans in July.”
A custom sweetheart table for the newlyweds was a must!
“When I looked in his eyes I was so proud to become his wife and be able to look into those eyes for the rest of my life,” says Kim. “I was so happy that this was the man God had allowed me to share my life with.”
Kim’s sorority sisters showed her lots of love at the couple’s wedding reception.
“I told my makeup artist and hair stylist that I wanted to feel like a princess and I did,” says the lovely bride. “The wedding felt like a dream to me and I wish it would slow down so I could enjoy every moment even longer. It was so lovely to see friends and family and to celebrate after all the planning over the past nine months.”
“I had a wonderful wedding and it felt great to be there with the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” says Ramon.
