Falling in love with Lloyd was easy for Sally. “I finally felt like I met someone who appreciated me from the inside out, and he makes me feel safe and secure,” she shares.
To step out in style on her wedding day, Sally chose these lovely silver Christian Louboutin sandals.
“Makino was my dress designer,” says Sally. “I didn’t want a traditional wedding gown.”
“I put on my dress and I felt like a queen,” says Sally. “I was about to have a changed life and it would be me and him against the world. I was worried about everything being perfect, but things went so well that I really enjoyed myself, and I was able to let go, have fun and live in the moment. I took it all in.”
“When I realized that he appreciated the fact that I was a smart, professional and stable woman and didn’t see me as just a ‘good looking’ woman, I knew he was the man for me,” says Sally.
“Years ago a friend had me write down the qualities I would want in a woman on a card and place it in my Bible,” says Lloyd. “I pulled that card out one day and realized Sally met all of them; she was the one!”
“What I love most about her is her disposition in life,” says Lloyd. “She’s very optimistic and always looks at the bright side in any situation. She also doesn’t take her herself too seriously.”
“I knew I wanted a classic, sophisticated, elegant wedding with no wedding party,” says Sally. “I knew that I wanted to have the ceremony and reception indoors at a downtown Chicago venue as an evening affair.”
“He is not afraid to speak up or stand up for what he believes in,” Sally tells us of her new husband.
“I had visited many popular venues in Chicago, but I then saw pictures of wedding photos taken at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago in the lobby and they were so beautiful,” says Sally. “I then said to myself, ‘I can’t wait to have my wedding photos taken in that lobby.’ I made an appointment to see the Waldorf Astoria Chicago and it was perfect in every way to match my desire of a classy wedding so the decision was made!”
“My father walked me down the aisle,” says Sally. “It’s tradition and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The man who raised me, cared for me and loves me gave me away for another man to care for me.”
“Even though we didn’t want to get married in a church, we wanted to be married by a protestant preacher with traditional bible wedding vows,” Sally explains. “We stuck with the plan and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I loved my wedding.”
The couple lit a unity candle to unite their families on the big day.
The couple’s wedding officiant was Gessel Berry, Jr., who is a longtime friend of the groom’s.
Over one hundred guests were on hand to welcome the bride and groom back down the aisle.
“She is smart, compassionate, honest, God-fearing, beautiful, financially stable and physically fit,” says Lloyd of his wife’s best qualities.
Beyoncé’s smash hit “Love On Top” played as the newlyweds made their big entrance.
Sally and Lloyd chose John Legend’s “All Of Me” for their romantic first dance song.
Lloyd and Sally’s reception space was filled with romantic blooms and candelight.
“We chose personalized stemless wine glasses as favors,” says Sally. “We chose them because personally we like wine but even if guests don’t drink wine, a nice small glass is something practical that people can use for any drink. They can also remember our special day since our names and wedding date are printed on them.”
A step and repeat was on hand for guests and the newlyweds to pose for photos.
“I absolutely did not think I would find love when and how I did, but I’m so thankful I did,” Lloyd shares.
All the single ladies couldn’t wait for a chance to grab the bride’s bouquet.
Lloyd and Sally’s big day was filled with one memorable moment after another.
“we had a ‘rough’ budget for what we wanted to spend on the wedding and reception and we stayed pretty close,” says Sally.
On their wedding day, the bride and groom just could not get enough of each other. We love to see the love shine through the photos.
