“I knew as soon as I tried it on that it was the one but shopped around just in case. It’s my style: conservative yet sexy and classy all in one,” said Ikeda.
“From what Shaun tells me, he kept going back and forth with ideas on how to pop the question. We were 7 months pregnant with our daughter and he had plans to ask on a plane since that’s where we 1st met. We were traveling to Florida for our baby shower but he couldn’t wait that long. So it was a Friday afternoon and we made plans to celebrate our friend Crystals new job at The painted pin. I met Shaun at his job and changed clothes there. We had a little argument earlier that morning and once I came back from changing he gave me a hug and said ‘Babe, I apologize for this morning. I promise to do better and be a better boyfriend and husband…(as he was getting down on one knee) ‘will you marry me!’ I still don’t remember him asking the question because everything was a blur at that point, I was in complete shock and excitement. He had his cell phone in his shirt pocket taping the experience which is funny to watch now. It was such a special moment for us. And perfect.”
On her wedding day, Ikeda had friends of over 20 years by her side. We love beautiful long lasting friendships like this!
“It was incredible being a groom,” said Shaun. “All of our closest friends and family were there celebrating love with us. Nothing could ever beat that, ever.”
“I choose an arrangement of eucalyptus, ranunculus, roses, and hydrangea because I wanted it to have a soft organic look and to include beautiful shades of green.”
“Being a bride truly felt like a being a queen! The day was everything I could’ve ever imagined,” admitted Ikeda. “Everything was perfect and flowed perfectly. From my dress to the weather, the flowers, food, ceremony, seeing old friends and close family. Seeing Shaun in his tux was magic. It was perfect.”
“I knew pretty early in the game that Ikeda was the one but I was in no rush to pop the question,” Shaun admitted. “I wanted to organically evolve to the point where I was ready to make the leap.”
“Shaun is a light,” said the bride of her groom. “He is reasonable and hard working. He’s a planner, (which is good for me) and always sees the good in every situation. He’s a supporter of my goals and an amazing father.”
“I love the way she loves,” said Shaun of Ikeda. “She loves good and hard and it has taught me to be more loving with my expressions and affirmations in the process.”
“I knew early in our relationship that he was the one,” said the bride. “There was something very special about Shaun.”
On his big day, the groom had his brothers as well as his wife’s brothers as his groomsmen. How special!
On her wedding day, the bride had her dad to walk for down the aisle and give her away to the love of her life.
“I was not on the hunt to find true love when I met Ikeda but I was open and look what happened,” said Shaun.
“Being at the altar felt like the greatest day of my life,” said the groom.
“Shaun said he got teary eyed but I cried at the altar because I felt complete,” the bride shared.
“We held our daughters’ dedication during the ceremony. We felt that this would be the perfect time to have it with all of our closest family and friends in one place.”
“She is kind and giving and I’m super impressed with the care and concern she expressed for others. And she makes a mean pot of curry chicken! “
“We stuck with the garden/rustic romance but added lots of candles. I love estate tables but I didn’t want every table to be and estate so we mixed long with round for our 90 guests.”
We love a photo of a bride and groom on their wedding day taking a moment to pray!
“We had an amazing cake by Cakes by Lameeka. It was simple in decor but beautiful. We didn’t go for an extravagant cake but wanted something that tasted good and reflected our style. It was red velvet, lime, and vanilla.”
For their first dance as husband and wife, the couple shared a moment to Sade’s “By Your Side”.
“It was a beautiful surprise finding true love with Shaun and when I did. I really wasn’t looking to date at the time. God’s plan is always perfect for our lives. Always.”
