Tahira says one her favorite wedding photos is the one captured as she and Calvet were announced husband and wife. And, can you blame her? What a sweet memory.

The groom felt composed for most of the day. He says he didn’t feel nervous until he pulled up to the wedding venue. A few jitters never hurt anybody.
“As soon as I tried it on, I loved it!” Tahira says of her dress. “And, when I saw my matron’s expression, I knew it was it!”
Tahira rocked a teeny weeny afro (TWA) on her wedding day, which is something she was initally very nervous about, but in the end, she “felt comfortable and completely free” rocking it. Smart choice!
Tahira tells us that her bridesmaids were five women who knew her so well that they truly helped make her day extra wonderful. Aww!
Tahira chose Swarovski crystals to add a sparkly touch to her stunning bridal look. Well done!
Behind the scenes, Calvet got ready for his big day in style. We always love the getting ready photos because they capture the excitement and certainty of the couple’s big day.
Tahira had a great experience as a bride. Her friends helped her plan, coordinate and as much as possible to be sure that her mind was at ease.
Believe it or not, Tahira tried on over 200 dresses before she found the perfect one. (Wow!) What a stunning choice she made. It truly was a winner.
Vintage-inspired bride Tahira opted for a birdcage veil instead of a traditional one. We love every bit of it.
We love the contrast of the suits and ties that the dapper groomsmen wore.
To request Tahira’s hand in marriage, Calvet drove to her hometown and asked her brother, late grandmother and mother for their blessing.
Tahira’s “something blue” was a pair of Badgley Mischka pumps. Too fly, diva!
Tahira’s bouquet included two of her favorite flowers, roses and calla lillies.
Calvet selected the attire he and his groomsmen wore during the wedding ceremony. Great choice!
The couple prayed together before seeing each other. What a divine moment to share.
“My eldest brother walked me down the aisle,” says Tahira. “He is my heartbeat and has been my confidant on so much, so it was only right that he give me away.”
“I love how she cares about others,” says the groom of his beautiful new wife. “There is something about the way she will go out of her way for those that she loves. Making sure that those closest to her are always in a good situation. The way that she cares for others let me know she was the woman who would love me unconditionally in life.”
“Calvet planned the proposal during our one-year anniversary weekend…I was completely clueless!”
Tahira walked down the aisle to a friend’s rendition of John Legend’s “All of Me.” A new classic.
Calvet said he was a little nervous before the wedding, but seeing his bride walking toward him at the altar almost caused “the flood gates [to] open up right under [his] eyelids!”
One hudred and fifty of the couples’ friends and family attended their wedding and reception.
Tahira and Calvet wrote their own vows. A personal choice we always approve of!
Calvet said looking at Tahira at the altar made him feel like he was “the only man on Earth.”
Both the bride and the groom shed a few happy tears on their big day.
The couple incorporated a sand ceremony into their nuptials. which is a great way to show the blending of lives and families.
The couple elected to go with a modern and classic theme. We love it!
“If I had to choose one [favorite quality], it would have to be his ability to be my peace,” Tahira said.
There’s never anything wrong with sharing a good laugh with the one you love.
Tahira says looking at Calvet made her feel “giddy, excited, beautiful, loved and desired!”
Calvet said one of his favorite wedding memories was seeing Tahira walk out of the mansion for the very first time. Could this groom be any sweeter?
We love the reception style Tahira and Calvet chose. It was both elegant and classic.
“There was something about the way that she loves, treats, and interacts with others that made me say I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her,” Calvet says.
“I’m a hopeless romantic, so I believed I would find it, I just didn’t know when,” Tahira says about her true love. “Everything about us was completely unexpected!”
Tahira and her brother stopped for a photo opp! What a great moment!
“Calvet is lovable, and he has a huge heart. He’s my goofball,” says Tahira.
“When I was looking for love, I was looking in all of the wrong places,” says Calvet. “We just happened to stumble on one another and since that day I had to have her. That’s what made it special with Tahira.”
Tahira wanted a dress that was simple and elegant. Mission accomplished. She got that and a whole lot more!
“I’m not sure of the exact moment, but I talked to God a lot throughout our relationship, as I was deathly guarded and afraid of getting my heart broken again,” says the bride. “Eventually God gave me confirmation that he was it.”
The couple entered their reception to Method Man and Mary J. Blige’s classic cut “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need.”
Is that a Mickey Mouse watch we see?! There’s nothing wrong with that!
Tahira and Calvet celebrated their first dance with “Just Me & You” by Tony! Toni! Toné!
“We can’t wait to eat the top of the cake on our one year anniversary,” Tahira says.
The bride’s sorority sisters sang to her on the big day.
