Wendy Williams is going through a major moment of transformation after filing for divorce from her husband and manager Kevin Hunter. The veteran media personality has committed to getting sober, relocated to a bachelorette pad and has even started dating. As a newly single woman, Williams is discovering a lot about herself – including the fact that she’s not into casual relationships.
During a recent interview with Sway In the Morning, Williams reveals what she’s learned since stepping out on her own. “After dating for a moment, I’ve realized that I am not a girlfriend. I’m a wife,” she tells the hosts. “I know girls right now are looking at the radio and throwing stones. It’s not ‘cuz you need a man. It’s ‘cuz you want one. I like that comfort.”
When it comes to saying ‘I do’ again, Williams is open to the idea but says she would be sure to protect her assets by making her future husband sign a prenup. “I didn’t think [my first marriage] would end first of all. Second of all, that is not sexy to introduce paperwork when you’re in love with somebody. But as a grown person, I’d get with another grown person with a thriving career. I would choose differently this time. Look, I’m 55. I don’t want to be with someone who wants to be a rapper.”
Williams also cleared the air about her date nights with the much younger Marc Tomblin, whom she was seen hitting the town with earlier this summer. “If you see me on with a 32-year-old, please don’t mistake that for anything other than we’re on a date. What I need is the comfort of a man who’s got his own. Oh, by the way, and grown kids. I don’t change pampers.” Talk that talk, Ms. Wendy!
Though Williams and Hunter are not officially divorced just yet, the talk show host wished her estranged husband well, saying, “I still love him and I wish him the best in his new life with his new family.” Still, she is intent on moving the divorce along. “I want a divorce, like, yesterday. I want a divorce, like, two months ago, three months ago, whenever I found out, four months ago… I want a divorce and I want to be friends with Kevin.”
