Name of Candidate: Denise D. Adams
State: North Carolina
Bio: Denise D. Adams (known as DD) is a native of Winston-Salem with a passion for service. After earning a B.A. degree in Speech Communication from Morgan State University, a desire to impact the quality of life for others led her to public office. A City Council member for the North Ward of Winston-Salem since 2009, Adams has led the charge to raise wages for police, firefighters and city workers. She’s also supported pro-LGBTQ rights for municipal employees.
Now her sights are set on Congress to represent North Carolina’s 5th District. Her platform includes advocating for better jobs, health care access and improved educational opportunities.
“I do what I do because of what is right and just. I will fight the good fight and do the good work,” Adams said on her website.
Higher Heights for America PAC, The Collective PAC, Move On, Youth In Action PAC, Sierra Club, Moms Demand Action, and organized labor groups are among her many endorsements.
“I’ve always been impressed by her dedication, her hard work ethic and her demanding, quality work, but when you get down below that, she’s got a big heart and is just concerned about people, and so I think she brings a lot of good skills to any job she might be in,” said Allen Joines, Mayor of Winston Salem.
