The road to the Academy Awards looks quite promising for the cast of 12 Years a Slave.
Today, the film earned an impressive 10 British Academy of Film and Television Arts nominations, reports Variety.
12 Years a Slave picked up nods in the following categories: Best Film, Director (Steve McQueen), Adapted Screenplay, Leading Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong’o), Supporting Actor (Michael Fassbender), Original Music, Cinematography, Editing and Production Design.
Earlier this week it was announced that Lupita Nyong’o was nominated for the EE Rising Star Award in which the public will decide the winner.
Other notable nominees include Oprah Winfrey (The Butler) for Supporting Actress.
The BAFTAs are scheduled to be held on February 16th in London’s Royal Opera House.
