In an event that took place this past Saturday, David Steven Bell, 51, was charged with several counts of assault after punching a Black girl under the age of 12
inside the Asheville Mall in Asheville, North Carolina.
According to Asheville police, the child in question and several other children were involved in a fight that erupted in the mall that evening and at some point during the fight, Bell pushed a young girl down and then punched her. Several videos of the incident are currently circulating on social media, including on the Twitter page of Qasim Rashid, Esq.

Under the thread, some commentators alleged that the young group of children taunted and goaded Bell into attacking them while other commentators (with common sense) asserted that the quips of small children will never be able to justify the brutality that is seen in the video of Bell assaulting them.
Bell was eventually arrested by an off-duty cop who was in the area at around 7 pm that same day.
Currently, the incident
is still under investigation by the Asheville police and many are awaiting updates on the young girl’s condition. At the time, all victims that may or may not have sustained injuries declined to be transported to a nearby hospital.
