If youโre a Millennial baby, then you probably remember requesting Aaliyahโs โOne in a Millionโ on the radio during your drives to school, or jamminโ out to her โRock the Boatโ at school dances.
R&B princess Aaliyah made music that served as the soundtrack to my pre-teen years. She was a musical talent, but also incredibly beautiful and had some serious beauty and boy-meets-girl fashion chops that would make anyone green with envy. Who didnโt want to beโor at least be cool withโAaliyah?
Almost fifteen years after her passing, fans are still commemorating her death. Recently, within the past year or so, fans have been circulating a petition for MAC to create a collaboration for the singer to continue her legacy.

The Aaliyah for MAC campaign was started by super fan, Jennifer Risinger, who launched the petition online through Change.org and later reached out to Aaliyahโs family to inquire about interest. According to Risinger, the late singerโs brother, Rashad Haughton backs the effort stating that Aaliyah was a โbig fan of MAC,โ and confirmed his support stating โhe approves the idea for a Limited Edition collection for her by MAC.โ Risingerโs petition has a goal of reaching 15,000 signatures, and they are currently just 200-some signatures shy or making their mark.
Personally, weโd love a MACxAaliyah collection honoring some of her signature lip shades, shadows and iconic winged liner. Perhaps a lipstick or an eyegloss in the collection could even channel her role as Akasha in Queen of the Damned. Weโre keeping our fingers crossed that MAC will take note of the petition and honor the fallen singer as they honored timeless Latina beauty, Selena. Join the petition and add your name the AaliyahForMAC cause by signing up on Change.org and keep up with the #AaliyahForMAC campaign via their Twitter and Instagram channels.
