Four Alleged Sexual Abuse Victims Come Forward Against Hip Hop Pioneer Afrika Bambaataa
“I never abused nobody,” Bambaataa tells Evers flatly. “It was definitely hurting and definitely crazy to hear this now when I was so many other works in the community in the time.”
At present, four men in total have come forward stating that the Zulu Nation leader was inappropriate with them in a sexual manner.
Bambaataa discussed the accusations for the first time in an exclusive two-part interview with Evers Wednesday night.
During the interview, Bambaataa was asked what he would say to his main accuser Ronald Savage, who first told his story of alleged sexual abuse at the hands of Bambaataa in his 2014 memoir Impulses, Urgencies and Fantasies: Life Is a Bag of Mixed Emotions, Volume 1.
In addition to vehemently denying ever inappropriately touching Savage in any way, Bambaataa says Savage needs to take issue with others in the Zulu Nation organization and not him.
“The brother knows the people who he came around in my group with, and knows that he wasn’t in my presence unless among those people and he needs to go back and speak to those people who were part of our organization and deal with them, Bambaataa retorted. “And stop all this type of craziness that they been trying to put by attacking me.”
Part 2 of his interview aired Thursday morning on Good Day New York.
The entirety of Bambaataa’s talk will air on Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers Saturday night on FOX 5 at 10:30 p.m.
