In March, Antoine Gorman, 28, of Freeport, Texas, was found guilty of the November 2016 murder of 7-week-old Malachi Nelson. On Friday, April 13, Gorman was sentenced to life in prison by a Texas jury.
At the hearing, Nelson’s mother, Tashiay Nelson expressed her wishes for her ex to be put to death for the tragic death of her son.
“I hate him and I hope he rots in hell,” Nelson told ABC13.
According to court documents obtained by The Facts newspaper, Nelson left her infant son and two other children with Gorman to babysit while she went to work. Investigators assigned to the case reported that Gorman held the baby upside down, dunking his head underwater in the toilet two or three times, to stop the child from crying.
When Nelson arrived home after work, she found her son, Malachi, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead later at a local hospital.
Nelson also added that her ex showed no signs of remorse during the trial, telling reporters that Gorman was laughing and being disrespectful.
“He wasn’t showing no remorse or nothing,” she said.
ABC13 reported that Gorman will not be eligible for parole for at least 30 years.
