This is not the first time Franklin has canceled shows due to illness. ESSENCE has reported in 2010, the now 74-year-old singer was hospitalized after fracturing a rib from a fall.
2011 gave way to a healthier and more vibrant Franklin who was quoted as saying the side effects from her treatment were rough, “but everything is good now, good to go.”
By 2013 the cycle of illness and recovery repeated itself again. The singer canceled a string of shows to undergo additional medical treatment that she continues to work through today.
