The Dallas Police Department has issued 3 arrest warrants in the slaying of Joshua Brown, Botham Jean’s neighbor and a key witness in the Amber Guyger murder trial.
The department claims that Thaddeus Charles Green, 22, Michael Diaz Mitchell, 32, and Jacquerious Mitchell, 20, all of Louisiana, drove from Alexandria to Dallas for a pre-arranged drug deal, according to Assistant Chief Avery Moore.
There has been rampant—and justified—speculation that the Dallas Police Department retaliated against Brown for his emotional testimony that helped convict Amber Guyger.
“As you know there’s been speculation and rumors that have been shared by community leaders claiming that Mr. Brown’s death was related to the Amber Guyger trial and somehow the Dallas Police Department was responsible. I assure you that is simply not true,” Moore said at a news conference on Tuesday.
Brown’s family issued a statement through their attorney, S. Lee Merritt, who also served as Botham Jean’s family attorney, in which they asked for an alternate investigative agency to look into Joshua’s death.
