In the video, the teacher appears angry, grabbing a student by the sweater and kicking the student out of class. She then yells, “You’re all getting zeroes for doing nothing. You’re idiots. You have a chance to get an education. Do you wanna be a broke ass n—r who’s going to get shot?”
The teacher finished the tirade by saying, “Learn something. Be a man.” The students erupted before the clip ends.
“Yesterday a middle school science teacher at Harlem Park Elementary/Middle School engaged in verbally abusive behavior and made racially charged comments directed at students,” Baltimore City Public Schools said in a statement. “The teacher involved in the incident is no longer employed by City Schools.”
“In a very trying time in the country right now here in City Schools we are very clear we do not tolerate that kind of language and interaction…using hate speech with anyone, let alone our young people,” said Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Dr. Sonja Santelises.
