A Baltimore woman has been arrested after fatally stabbing her husband inside of a hospital.
Police arrested Anita Jones on Saturday and charged her with first-degree murder stemming from the stabbing death of Christopher Yancey inside Johns Hopkins hospital, according to the Associated Press.
The couple was reportedly arguing as they waited for their son to undergo a minor procedure Friday afternoon. According to staff, Jones came out of a room to tell them that her husband had cut himself in an attempted suicide.
Yancey was found with multiple cuts and lacerations and pronounced dead soon after.
Jones fled the hospital before the police arrived. They issued a warrant for her arrest and she was taken into custody on Saturday.
Police say no weapon was found in the hospital room.
“At no time were patients, staff or other visitors in danger,” Kim Hoppe, a hospital spokeswoman, told the Baltimore Sun. “We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased. Since this is a police investigation, we must defer all inquiries to them.”
