If you aren’t trending, you basically don’t exist in this 21st century world. Only a few celebs and personalities have what it takes to be one of the most influential people on the web. TIME has rounded up the best of the best for their 30 Most Influential People on the Internet list. But who will earn the Number 1 spot?
Among those few key influencers of the Internet is none other than the President of the United States, Barack Obama. POTUS certainly stepped up his social media game by reaching out through YouTube, Google and Facebook to stay connected with his younger constituents. He also inadvertently created one of the most-tweeted about moments of the year when he shaded half of Congress during his 2015 State of the Union Address.
Of course Queen Bey makes the list. Her secret album, Beyoncé, nearly broke the Internet and is still breaking records almost two years later. Her music is so influential, it’s even made Kanye West drop his ego and go to bat for her on more than one occasion.
Also on the list was the girl who shared The Dress that confused the Internet. Yes, that black, blue, white, gold, who knows what color dress that hurt your eyes and probably ruined your friendships. Activist Janet Mock joins these key influencers for using her social media transform the conversation about transwomen as does writer Ta-Nehisi Coates for his controversial piece on race relations, “The Case For Reparations.”
All of these people have helped shape social conversations but who do you think is the most influential? Vote for The Most Influential Person on the Internet at Time.com.
