The open enrollment period for buying health insurance at HealthCare.gov runs from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15. The Affordable Care Act, dubbed “Obamacare,” was the law passed in 2010 for those who don’t have health insurance available through an employer and who need individual or family coverage.
But according to Vox, Obamacare sign-ups are down 13 percent: “There are a lot of theories for why enrollment is down. There are some obvious policy reasons: The individual mandate is gone; people can now buy less comprehensive health insurance plans being pushed by the Trump administration; Virginia’s Medicaid expansion is moving people from the Obamacare markets into that program. The Trump administration has also sharply cut enrollment outreach programs and advertising over the past two years.” Of course, you won’t see the current sitting president advertising people to sign-up for Obamacare, because he’s currently trying to gut the health insurance apart. Even though the former president tried to keep it all serious, it wasn’t until the end of the PSA that you got a little laugh. Filters, even the president hates them.
