As someone who doesn’t shy away from confrontation (or the media), Jackie is excited to be a part of VH1’s new series “Basketball Wives L.A.”
While the self-proclaimed “momma goose” of the group didn’t give away much in our conversation, she does admit that there are a lot of twists and turns on the show. If the L.A. cast is anything like Miami, there’s probably some foul shots as well.
Here’s what Jackie had to say about the upcoming season, which premieres tonight.

ESSENCE.com: What made you want to be a part of “Basketball Wives L.A.”? What do you hope to accomplish?
Jackie Christie: I want people to know me better and see more of my lifestyle. I really just want people to watch the show and try to refrain from judgment. It’s a great show from beginning to end. You’ll be on the edge of your seat.
ESSENCE.com: What were your husband Doug’s thoughts about you participating in the show?
Jackie: At first he thought, ‘Okay, are you sure that’s what you want to do?’ He was little surprised. I told him about it and he said, ‘I’ll support you 100 percent with it.’
ESSENCE.com: What was your least favorite part of taping the show?
Jackie: One of the cons of a reality show is: That’s exactly what it is. You’re going to get people’s feelings, thoughts, opinions and emotions on any given day. You get surprised a lot with the show. But the pros outweigh the cons.

ESSENCE.com: I’m sure you’re aware there’s a lot of criticism about the depiction of Black women on reality shows. Were you concerned about being part of the drama?
Jackie: Actually, I wasn’t. I know that with any reality show there comes some skepticism and people will have preconceived ideas. Shaunie [O’Neal] has a right to think [‘Basketball Wives’] is being depicted in a negative way. She’s done Miami for a few years and she’s stayed out of the ruckus, but it is reality TV, and people are going to passionate. I’m okay with both sides of it.
ESSENCE.com: Who’s your favorite cast member from Miami?
Jackie: That’s hard, because I have three of them. But if I had to pick, I would have to go with Shaunie. I don’t want to pick just one: It’s Shaunie, Tammy and it’s a contest between Royce and Evelyn. But I like Jenn too, so I don’t know. I like them all.
Catch the season premiere of “Basketball Wives L.A.” tonight at 8pm.
