“American Idol” winner, Broadway star, and platinum-selling artist Jordin Sparks is adding yet another job title–perfumier–to her ever-expanding resume! Next week, she’s launching her debut fragrance, Because of You. This fruity-floriental scent is blended with clementine, baby orchid, vanilla bean, Baltic amber and sheer musk. “I wanted it to transfer easily from day to night,” Sparks told WWD in an exclusive interview. “So we needed a little ‘darkness’ [from the musks and ambers] in there!” In creating her first fragrance, the price point was very important to Sparks. “In this economy, my fans deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent,” she told WWD. “I looked at other celeb fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I can’t bring myself to spend that much!” Because of You will be introduced at $9.50, and then rise to $14.95 on November 1st.
