A Belmont University student has been removed from the school after a racist post went viral.
The former student took to Snapchat with an image of black players for the Philadelphia Eagles raising their fists during the national anthem. The text accompanying the image included the threat of violence with a “bullet in the head” and referred to the players as “piece of s–t n—-s,” adding, “If you don’t like this country get the hell out.”

On Tuesday morning the school issued a statement, saying, “We reject comments rooted in racism or bigotry. This is not free speech — this is hate speech. As a Christian institution, it is our goal to build a diverse and inclusive community where all members feel accepted, safe and valued.”
Following an investigation, the school released another statement assuring parents and students that the student responsible, who remains unidentified, had been removed from the university.
A student, sophomore Isaiah Edwards, told The Tennessean, “Being on such a beautiful campus, that supports diversity and inclusion, it is terrifying having someone speak about shooting individuals in the head and referring to them as n—-s. I hope that Belmont uses this experience as a wake-up call that this type of disgusting behavior is real and prevalent on its campus.”
