Beyoncé has announced who she’s supporting during the 2020 election–former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris.
In a post to Instagram, the musician and philanthropist shared a clip of herself wearing a face mask with Biden and Harris’ joint logo on it. On her hat, she placed an “I voted” sticker, to show that she had exercised her right as a citizen. She also encouraged residents of her native Texas to head to the polls themselves, writing “Come thru, Texas! #vote”.
Texas has historically been a Red state, meaning that it has voted primarily Republican. But a push from Beyoncé could help the state, which is in the midst of a toss-up, make a defining switch.
This is not the first time the ‘Black Is King’ singer has used her voice during an election. In the 2016 presidential election, she famously supported Hillary Clinton and in 2018, endorsed former presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke for Senate.
