Last week, a mysterious event appeared on Beyoncé’s Facebook page signaling she was hitting the road again, but this time with her husband, JAY-Z in tow. Although the post was quickly deleted, fans took it as a sign to get in formation because the real thing would be coming soon.
Well, the wait is over.
On Monday morning, Beyoncé took to Instagram to announce the Carters would be taking the show on the road later this year with the On the Run II tour, a callback to their 2014 worldwide romp to celebrate their albums — Jigga’s Magna Carta Holy Grail and Bey’s self-titled visual album, Beyoncé.
This time around, On the Run II will begin in Cardiff, Wales in June, and the Carters will tour Europe for the early part of summer before landing stateside on July 25th in Cleveland. The tour will cross cross the country for the remainder of the summer before wrapping up in October in Vancouver, British Columbia in early October. Though tickets don’t go on sale until March 14, fans are already excited about a Bey and Jay tour. On the Run II comes after both JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s release of extremely personal albums — 4:44 and Lemonade — that dealt with their relationship drama and infidelity. While it’s unclear if Bey will release new music to coincide with the tour, it will be interesting to see how the Carters tell both sides of the story of their marriage through song.
