Back in 2012, Big Sean started the Sean Anderson Foundation in order to help the disadvantaged youth in his hometown of Detroit and across the nation. Recently, the rapper talked to CNN about his youth charity and why it’s important for him to give back to his hometown.

“It’s just so easy to get caught in the wrong things when you’re young,” he said. “As a mentor I see the importance of showing people their inner potential. I’ve got to give back, that’s my responsibility,”

Sean recently donated a cutting-edge recording studio to his old high school, Cass Technical High School, which he showed CNN, jokingly adding,
“What’s funny is I used to get in trouble for selling my CDs in the hallway. You can just imagine what it feels like to be back.”

It’s great to see Big Sean roaming his old stomping grounds and encouraging kids to focus on doing what they love.
However, Sean’s philanthropic efforts don’t stop there. The “Blessings” singer also launched a fundraiser to bring water to Flint and donated an additional $10,000 to the cause.
