Just because you’re getting a college education doesn’t mean your smart, as one Eastern Michigan University proved after allegedly hanging a Black doll in a dorm bathroom as a “prank.”
Anyone with common sense knows that there’s nothing funny about the incident and now EMU officials are investigating,
according to WXYZ.
A resident advisor at Best Hall that reportedly found the doll hanging from a shower rod in a bathroom shared by suitemates, which prompted an investigation by police, as well as the Office of Wellness and Community Standards.
WXYZ spoke to Christopher Casillas, the resident advisor who actually found the doll in the bathroom that he shares with his two suitemates. The doll was reportedly hanged by the girlfriend of one of his students, who lives in another part of the hall.
“It was actually hung by its neck with multiple knots attached to it,” Casillas said
The student insisted that the incident was a “prank” that was not meant to be racist or malicious.
Still, EMU is not having it.
“Eastern Michigan takes this matter very seriously. There is absolutely no place at Eastern for hateful and racist actions, regardless of their intent,” the university said in a statement
according to the Detroit Metro Times. “At this time, the University continues to investigate the incident and will take appropriate steps upon completion of the investigation.”
