Last Thursday when Nigerian news media announced that government and military had struck a deal with Islamist militants, Boko Haram, to cease fire and release 200 plus girls who were abducted from Chibok in April, there was a glimmer of hope. However, it has now been reported by local journalists and the Roman Catholic Bishop Stephen Mamza, that around 60 more young women have been abducted after gunmen raided a mountain village near the border on Saturday.
“Of course it is credible,” Bishop Mamza confirmed to the New York Times. “This is actually what is happening on a daily basis, only it is not reported.”
The gunmen went house to house searching for young women, both Bishop and local news reports. Additional details have yet to be released.
