Police in Memphis, Tenn. have arrested a white man who terrorized a group of children, yelling racial slurs and pointing a gun, all while trying to run them over with his vehicle.
According to Fox13, Bradley Watkins, 36, is facing two counts of aggravated assault after the incident that took place at a local Family Dollar on Saturday.
One of the victims told police that he and Watkins got into an argument inside the store earlier that day. During that verbal altercation, the suspect made racial remarks. As the victims left and began to return home, they saw a Ford Crown Victoria driving next to them, with Watkins driving inside.
From inside the vehicle, Watkins continued to hurl racial slurs and at one point was holding a gun while driving and screaming at the children. He then started driving toward the victims, smoking the tires on his vehicle.
The victims split up to try and get away, but Watkins still pursued them. A victim told police that he screamed, “Ni—r, I’ll kill you.” Another victim claimed that Watkins pointed the gun at them.
A witness confirmed to police that he saw Watkins chasing the group, running them off the road.
When police ultimately tracked down Watkins, he acknowledged that he got into an argument with two children at the store, but declined to provide any more information or to allow the police to search his home or car.
Watkins is expected to appear in court on Monday at 9 a.m. for his next hearing.
