Cardi B‘s latest musical acheivement is worthy of a celebration.
The former nightclub dancer turned Love & Hip-Hop reality star turned rapper extraordinnaire has landed the number 1 song in the country with her hit, “Bodak Yellow.”
Billboard reports that the 24-year-old has become the first female rapper on the top 100 Billboard chart without any other credited artist. The Bronx native follows Lauryn Hill who claimed the No.1 spot in 1998 for the same accomplishment as an R&B artist with her song “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
Fans had a very big part in helping Cardi reaching the top with many demanding a call to action via Twitter to help the star reach new heights. Cardi also got major co-signs of support and admiration from some of the biggest names in the business including J. Cole, Rihanna and Beyoncé.
So far 2017 has truly been a good one for Cardi as she killed summer festival stages, shut down the red carpet at New York Fashion Week and beyond, as well as making things official with her boyfriend Offset of the rap trio Migos.
All hail queen Cardi and congrats!
