In February, Beyoncé’s announced her pregnancy and that she was expecting twins by sharing a beautiful photo on Instagram of her growing baby bump.
Just weeks after announcing her pregnancy, she performed on the 59th Annual Grammy stage giving fans a show to remember and a closer look at her growing belly.
The twins join their big sister Blue Ivy, 5.
In the months leading up to the twins’ arrival, Beyoncé made appearances to surprise Alvin Ailey dancers in Los Angeles, taking daughter Blue to see Beauty and the Beast and more.
Before giving birth, the Carter’s had an epic push party in anticipation for the twins arrival.
Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, was on hand to celebrate at the event along with some of the Carters’ famous friends including Kelly Rowland, La La Anthony and Serena Williams, who is expecting a little one of her own.
Since first becoming a mother five years ago, the 35-year-old has been vocal about the joys of having a reflection of herself in the world and her thoughts on having more children.
“[Having a daughter] just gives you purpose and all of the things that my self-esteem was associated with, it’s all completely different,” she said in an interview with Anderson Cooper in 2012. “I realized why I was born and more than anything all of the things I want to pass onto my child and the best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her but showing her by example, which is one of the reasons I’m here.”
In 2013, she said she looked forward to the day she would give her daughter, who she credits for introducing her to herself, siblings of her very own.
“Now I definitely want another, but I don’t know when,” she told ABC News at the time. “I think my daughter needs some company. I definitely love being a big sister.”
Blue is officially a big sister now.
Congrats to the Carters!
