The Dasani Ultimate Style & Beauty Lounge was designed to offer women of color the opportunity to refresh and recharge in a relaxing atmosphere and receive complimentary spa treatments throughout the day. ESSENCE.com chats with Chilli about how she stays fabulous at 38 while juggling life as a single mom.
“People say to me all the time that I have not aged and it’s because I drink so much water. I don’t drink soda, coffee or alcohol and I don’t smoke. I stay hydrated all the time. The one thing I tell both moms and young women is to start early. Drinking water keeps your skin clear and plump,” says Chilli on how she maintains her healthy and ageless skin.
“I love M.A.C lipsticks. I can’t live without my lip glosses from L’Oreal, CoverGirl and Bonne Bell. Sometimes I use a tiny bit of mascara. Really for me it’s about the lip gloss or lipstick and a little bit of blush. If I really want to feel like I’m doing something, I’ll add some eyeliner to let my eyes pop a bit,” says the “CrazySexyCool” singer about her daily beauty routine.
“Chilli is really the woman that juggles family, friends, work and community. The stresses and strains a woman feels and experiences she can relate to every aspect of it. Chilli is an everyday woman with an amazing back story. Her ethics and high moral standards really reflect the purity and cleanliness of the brand and is why we selected her as our spokesbeauty,” says Yolanda White, assistant vice-president, African-American Marketing, Coca-Cola North America (right) pictured with Chilli and Debra Lee, CEO of BET Television.
Janell Snowden, entertainment correspondent for VH1 news, enjoyed the serenity and top-of-the-line spa services at the Townhouse Spa Dasani Ultimate Style & Beauty Lounge where she was spotted getting a manicure.
Teyana Taylor, who made headlines with her song debut “Google Me,” stopped by the beauty lounge with her mother for some mommy and me pampering.
When it comes to maintaining her superstar locks, Chilli relies on Paul Mitchell products. “Paul Mitchell Styling Mouse with conditioner is one of my favorites because I have curly hair and it keeps my hair soft,” says the star.
The legendary Bethann Hardison, model talent scout and founder of Bethann Management (second from left to right), donated $5,000 dollars to the Year Up organization at the event. Year Up is a one-year, intensive training program that provides urban young adults 18-24, with a unique combination of technical and professional skills, college credits, an educational stipend and corporate apprenticeship.
“I use daily moisturizer and at night and I use 100 percent vitamin E oil,” say Chilli on how she maintains a healthy complexion. “What’s great about vitamin E oil is it does not clog your pores and can be used all over the face. I also use glycolic acid which gives the skin a more youthful appearance.”
