The 78-year-old gospel singer spent this past week meeting with publishing houses in New York City to discuss the project. “It’s going to be the bad, it’s going to be the good,” she reportedly told one publisher, though two sources present tell the paper Cissy appeared apprehensive about discussing Whitney’s unexpected death and her career long battle with drug abuse. Despite this, publishers agree Cissy is eager to dispel “all of those lies” about Whitney in her book.
Cissy has has remained relatively silent since her superstar daughter’s death in February, and has only conducted one exclusive interview on the subject thus far. If it goes through, the Times reports that the book deal could be seven figures.
Whitney’s close friend, gospel singer Bebe Winans is also set to release a memoir about their decades-long friendship.
