Brooke Baldwin rebuked a guest on her show, CNN Newsroom, on Tuesday after he used the N-word live on air.
Charles Kaiser, a noted author and blogger, used the word moments before Baldwin cut him off, during a condemnation of Steve Bannon, President-elect Donald Trump‘s pick for chief White House strategist.
“The more I’ve sat here and listened to the fact that somebody used the N-word on this show — it is not OK. It is not OK, Charles Kaiser,” Baldwin said.
She was visibly bothered, her eyes appearing to water and her voice shaking. “Please don’t use the N-word on my show,” she said.
Kaiser attempted to explain his reasoning behind using the racial slur, saying he was quoting Bannon.
“I never use the N-word except when I’m quoting someone who’s been appointed by the President to serve in the Oval Office,” he said.

Baldwin, however, quickly ended the segment, waving both hands and saying, “We’re done.”
She fought back tears as she responded to Kaiser’s claim that Bannon had used the word before cutting off to a commercial break, however.
“The claim that Mr. Bannon used the N-word, I’ve never heard of this, so there’s that,” she said, adding “Take a break.”
Kaiser later apologized in a message to CNN.
“In the heat of the moment, I said the word n—- on CNN,” he wrote. “What’s worse, I think, is that I attributed its use to Bannon, rather than Sessions, which was a mistake.”
“I apologize to all those who were offended by my use of the word,” he added. “But there is also a part of me that believes that you cannot convey the true horror of these early Trump appointments without using the actual words attributed to them.”
