• Amber Riley is among the latest celebrities selected to join the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. As previously reported, she will join Christina Milian, who recently got engaged. Other stars selected to put on their dancing shoes include Corbin Bleu, NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, actress Valerie Harper and former Scientologist Leah Remini. The upcoming season kicks off on September 16th at 8 p.m. [ABC]
• In other exciting TV news, Randy Jackson will officially return to American Idol as a mentor. He announced last spring that he would be retiring from the judges’ panel after 12 long seasons. Now, he’s back to guide the contestants through their musical journeys. “Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all,” said Jackson. “Season 1-3 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America.” [CNN]
• Anthony Anderson is returning to NBC this season. The comedian and actor will host the network’s newest game show, Wall of Fame. Each episode, one lucky family will answer several pop-culture questions while also guessing if various celebrities answered the same questions correctly as well. There’s no word on when the show will begin airing, but it is expected to begin filming later this month. [Hollywood Reporter]
• HBO’s mega drama True Blood is coming to a close. The network announced yesterday that the series will end after it’s upcoming seventh season in 2014. HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo said in a statement, “Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.” [SlashFilm]
