• R&B singer Anthony Hamilton was arrested early Sunday morning, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, for reportedly driving while intoxicated. Officers pulled him over around 2:30 a.m. for speeding, authorities soon suspected he was under the influence and booked him on DWI charges. He was released hours later. [TMZ]
• Christina Milian will not be returning to the upcoming season of NBC’s The Voice. Milian says she wants to focus on creating new music. “I took a break this season so I can work on my music,” said Milian. “I’ve watched so many of these artists up there performing, I get that envy. I want it to be me. It’s that time, and sometimes it takes a little sacrifice.” [Extra]
• Lee Daniel’s The Butler remained at number one for the second weekend in a row at the box office. The historical drama starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey earned $17 million—a 31% decrease from last week’s opening numbers. The Butler, in total, has earned $52.3 million since opening 10 days ago. [CNN]
• Michelle Obama took her daughters to see Trip to Bountiful this weekend. The First Family, sans Barack Obama, took their seats just before the first act. The ladies were greeted with a standing ovation while returning to their seats for the second act. The Obamas stuck around to meet all of the cast backstage including Vanessa Williams, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Cicely Tyson.
