• Anthony Mackie was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday, November 9th in New York City. According to E! News, the actor was initially pulled over because of his illegally tinted windows on his Dodge Challenger. Upon further inspection, the arresting officer noticed alcohol on Mackie’s breath and his bloodshot eyes. TMZ reports Mackie failed “several” field sobriety tests. He was then taken in and officially booked. Mackie’s license was also suspected because he refused to take a blood-alcohol test. [E! Online]
• This morning, President Barack Obama released a statement pledging American help to the Philippines. The country was hit hard this week by Super Typhoon Yolanda. According to USA Today, as many as 10,000 lives could have been taken by the storm. Obama says, “…I know the incredible resiliency of the Philippine people, and I am confident that the spirit of Bayanihan will see you through this tragedy. The United States is already providing significant humanitarian assistance, and we stand ready to further assist the Government’s relief and recovery efforts.” [USA Today]
• Ciara says she’s going to be a “bridezilla,” but a happy one! The singer revealed that she wants her upcoming wedding to rapper Future to be in two parts. She claims they both have lots of friends and family in the Atlanta area and would like to have a celebration and a wedding. As for her dress, Ciara says she’ll probably play into a vintage theme. “I want to go a little vintage, a little throwback classic almost like my mom was walking down the aisle,” she explained. • The internet is buzzing with news that British sensation Adele turned down a reported $20 million dollar L’Oréal contract. (Take a moment to reread that sentence!) Yahoo reports that Adele was nearly set to become the face of the mega cosmetics brand, replacing Cheryl Cole. “L’Oréal was in negotiations for the deal with Adele and it looked to be happening—but she just changed her mind on it,” says an insider. Adele famously said she’s against selling out—essentially attaching herself to a brand. “I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted,” she explained in 2011. “I think it’s shameful when you sell out.” [Yahoo]
