• 42 star Chadwick Boseman will star in the upcoming biopic about James Brown, Godfather of Soul. The Help director Tate Taylor signed on to helm the upcoming project. Since its inception circa 2001, the film has seen a number of potential leads come and go—including Eddie Murphy. At one time Wesley Snipes was in talks to star in the film. • Rapper Fat Joe has officially begun serving his four month prison sentence in Miami. Joe pleaded guilty late last year to failing to pay taxes in 2007 and 2008—totally more than $1 million. He could have faced up to two years in prison, but his sentence was reduced to four months, a $15,000 fine and one year of supervised release. [TMZ]
• According to Katherine Jackson, Paris is “doing much better” and her ongoing treatment is “going good, really good.” The Jackson matriarch spoke about her granddaughter’s condition for the first time recently and she revealed that it’s been difficult. “She’s my baby,” said Jackson. “It’s hard for me, really hard. • It looks like Sunday night’s VMA after party didn’t go as planned. According to reports, Diddy and J. Cole got into a tiff at the Dream Hotel. Onlookers say the two exchanged heated words, but never came to blows. Despite the “dust-up” party goers managed to continue with their night. Jay-Z, with whom Diddy co-hosted the party, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Kevin Hart and Trey Songz were all in attendance. [NY Post]
