• The U.S. Attorney’s office reduced Chris Brown’s felony assault charge to a misdemeanor simple assault. The charges stem from an altercation that took place at 4:30 a.m. Saturday night outside the W Hotel. It’s not yet clear what exactly happened, but the police report indicates Brown allegedly punched a 20-year-old man after hurling an anti-gay slur. Brown maintains he didn’t hit the man. As of now, Brown is free without bail and he must return to court on November 25th. Brown is also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim. [E! News]
• Nicki Minaj’s mother, Caol Maraj, is set to launch her gospel music career. The Trinidadian singer will perform for the United Colours of Fashion charity event God’s Been Good on Saturday, November 23rd in New York City. The event will also support the Carol Maraj Foundation which continues to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS and domestic abuse. [TGJ]
• Kanye West has wedding plans on his mind. He told Big Boy on his morning show, Big Boy’s Neighborhood, that the ceremony will be next summer. “I only got two words in my mind as far as ideas for the wedding: fighter jets,” said West. He also said he wouldn’t be opposed to making a little money off the ceremony. “If you can help out with those bills, because you know me and Kim are in the exploitation business,” he explained. “We get paid to exploit ourselves.” [YBF]
• Ja Rule’s latest film, I’m In Love with A Church Girl, inspired his new relationship with God. He told NY Daily News, “I actually just got saved. When I read the script, I saw the similarities between myself and Miles, and I really felt that this might be a good vehicle for me.” I’m In Love with A Church Girl co-stars Adrienne Bailon and is in theaters now.
