• Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office in Atlanta released Chris Kelly’s official cause of death Monday. The rapper died of a drug overdose. The examiner found a number of substances in his body at the time of his death on May 1st. Police and authorities were notified that Kelly had a history of drug use. Kelly’s mother told police that he used both cocaine and heroin the night before his death. [Yahoo]
• Despite telling the world that she would no longer record new music, Toni Braxton is set to embark on a national tour in August. The diva’s first concert will be on August 9th in Las Vegas and she will hit some 14 cities before wrapping it up on August 31st in Atlanta. [TGJ]
• Former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.’s sentencing is delayed. Jackson was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday for spending $750,000 in campaign funds on personal items. No new date has been set. He faces up to five years in prison. His wife’s sentencing was delayed as well. [Grio]
• Stevie Wonder is hard at work on his first gospel album inspired by his mother, Lula. The legendary singer says Gospel Inspired by Lula will be out soon. “I promised her I would do it,” said Wonder. “She always wanted me to do it before she passed away… We’ve been working on some songs and some ideas.
