• Scandal actor Columbus short is getting divorced. His soon-to-be ex-wife Tuere Short filed court documents September 11th after eight years and two months of marriage. However, the documents show they were separated on September 3rd. The couple has a 19-month-old daughter named Ayala. Tuere is seeking custody, but is willing to allow visitation rights. This is short’s second divorce. [Radar Online]
• The John F. Kennedy Center announced yesterday that Herbie Hancock will be among its 2013 honorees. Hancock alongside Billy Joel, Shirley MacLaine and Martina Arroyo will be honored for their talents and contributions to the country. Hancock said he was “overwhelmed” upon hearing the good news. “To realize that my name will be among those whose outstanding work in the performing arts I most admire is very humbling,” he said in a statement. The Kennedy Center Honors will be held on December 15th and will air on CBS on December 29th. [EURweb]
• Mariah Carey is still hard at work in the studio. The songstress, still with an injured arm, was seen in the studio with Jermaine Dupri, Darkchild, Mike WILL Made It and Hit-Boy recently. Carey originally announced that her latest album, The Art of Letting Go, would be released in late July. Its new release date has yet to be announced. [Vibe]
• Earlier this week, the ladies on The Talk revealed some surprising secrets about themselves. Comedian Aisha Tyler revealed her troubles conceiving. She told the audience that after trying to have a child and spending tons of money on fertility procedures, she and her husband decided to stop trying. “It’s okay because I married my husband because I love him and I don’t feel like there’s anything missing from our marriage, but when you think about this person that you love what a wonderful thing it would be to bring another person like that into the world,” said Tyler. “That’s the hardest part about it.” [Madame Noire]
