Denzel Washington will receive the Donostia Lifetime Acheivement Award at the San Sebastian Film Fest in Spain. Washington will also open the festival (Sept. 19-27) with a screening of his new film, The Equalizer, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). In the film, Washington plays a retired intelligence officer who is called back to duty to fight Russian mobsters. The film is set for a U.S. release on September 26th. [HollywoodReporter]
The drama surrounding L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling continues. The team’s head coach, Doc Rivers, told the interim CEO, Richard Parsons, that if Sterling remains team owner, he will quit. Parsons is reportedly concerned about losing key players like team captian Chris Paul. [HuffingtonPost]
After Lebron James’ decision to return to Cleveland, masses of journalists and fans arrived at his Akron home, resulting in police assistance for both safety and traffic reasons. To make up for the commotion, the Lebron James Family Foundation sent his neighbors a dozen cupcakes, apologizing for the chaos with a note expressing how “blessed” his family is “to have understanding neighbors like you.” [ABCNews]
