• Rapper Jay-Z surprised fans with news of a new album last night during game five of the NBA finals. He shared the news via a three-minute Samsung commercial. Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released on July 4—less than a month away. In the clip, Jay-Z is seen in the studio with producer Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. “The album is about the duality of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing, through success and through failures, and remain yourself,” said Jay-Z. • Walmart may have slipped up and inadvertently announced the title of Mariah Carey’s next studio album. According to the super store’s website, The Art of Letting Go, will be Carey’s next album. Carey hinted at something on Twitter last night, “…Melancholic moment letting go of something this personal to me yet I couldn’t be more excited to give three years of my soul to the fans.” Her current single, “#Beautiful” sits at number 15 on the Billboard charts. • Beyoncé and video game company Gate Five settled their lawsuit, reports the New York Post. Gate Five claimed the star dropped their agreement to create a dance game just before the holidays and immediately filed a lawsuit. Although details of the settlement are kept under wraps, the company’s lawyer said, “We’ve settled amicably… It was resolved.” [NY Post]
• Taj Jackson was married over the weekend. The entire Jackson clan came out to the ceremony including La Toya, Jermaine, Tito, Joe, Katherine, Prince and Blanket. However, Paris was absent from the fun. Sources say the ceremony had a “family reunion” feel and that things went off without complication. “No one said a word about Paris,” said a source. “[She] wanted to come but they wouldn’t let her out of the hospital.” Paris was originally scheduled to be released from UCLA Medical Center on Friday, according to sources.
