See what we’re chatting about over our vanilla brew:
• Jesse L. Martin has replaced Lenny Kravitz in a biopic about Marvin Gaye entitled Sexual Healing. The news comes as no surprise given Martin was originally tied to a similar biopic five years ago before plans fizzled. This film will begin with the late soul singer’s efforts to get his career back on track instead of focusing on his later years when he battled drug abuse. Sexual Healing is set to begin shooting in late March. [Hollywood Reporter]
• La Toya Jackson is not so pleased with a recent story published by The New York Post. In it, The Post claims Jackson is earning money off her niece and nephew’s new gigs and that she’s shopping a reality show to OWN. Jackson released a statement denying all claims. “The story in The NY Post is completely and unequivocally false,” reads the statement. “Neither La Toya nor her company represent any of MJ’s children in any legal capacity nor has she received any commissions or payment as a result of their individual ventures… Furthermore, there is no shopping of a reality show for the children.” [Hollywood Reporter]
• Yes, Terrence Howard is an incredible actor. But, did you know he is a scientist? The Pratt Institute of New York grad opened up to the Grio about his other passions. Howard revealed he has his doctorate in chemical engineering and has since started a diamond growing business, with which he has filed nearly 23 patents. “I have greater things I can contribute to the world of science than as an actor,” said Howard. • Trey Songz has found himself a home in the Hollywood hills. The singer will reportedly rent a 13,000 square-foot home beginning April 1 for $35,000 a month. The sprawling estate features 10-bedrooms, 12-bathrooms, a gym, an elevator and a movie theater. Songz will be neighbors with Ne-Yo. [TMZ]
