Lifetime has nabbed Jill Scott, Eve and Regina Hall to star in original movie, With This Ring, a romantic comedy that follows three best friends who decide that they must get married within the next year after attending a friend’s wedding. The movie—based on former ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief Angela Burt-Murray’s book with Denene Millner and Mitzi Miller The Vow—will be executive produced by Tracey Edmonds, Gabrielle Union and Sheila Ducksworth. Filming will begin this August in Cleveland and the film will debut later this year. [HollywoodReporter]
Nina Simone’s daughter, Lisa Celeste Stroud, has penned a tell-all book about the Jazz musician revealing that their relationship was strained and that she was often attacked and neglected by the entertainer. Stroud also expresses disapproval of the upcoming biopic of her mother and reveales that she denied producers of the film the rights to her music. [ThatGrapeJuice]

NBC’s Bill Cosby comedy project is moving along. NBC entertainment President Jennifer Salke says, “Bill plays the patriarch of the family, dispensing his classic wisdom on relationships and parenthood, with three daughters, husbands and grandchildren. It’s a classic big extended family sitcom.” The multi-camera show is being eyed for a summer or fall 2015 release and is being produced by Sony TV. [Deadline]
