- Jordin Sparks says her Sparkle co-star, Whitney Houston, was like a mom to her on set. “She took on the mother role because my parents weren’t there [during film production],” she says in a Redbook Magazine cover story. ”She was always asking, ‘Did I feel comfortable? - Rihanna’s sexy image isn’t sitting well with skincare line, Nivea, for which she is a spokesperson. The new CEO of the company, Stefan Heidenreich, says he’s no longer comfortable with the pop singer being the face of the line. “I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna,” he said in an interview with the German newspaper Welt. The singer originally partnered with the Nivea in 2011 when the company used her song “California King Bed” in a commercial. [Huffington Post]
- NBA veteran Michael Jordan is helping President Barack Obama raise money for his re-election campaign. Jordan will co-host a fundraising shoot around with other NBA players, including Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo and John Wall on August 22nd. [The Grio]
- Haitian-American Meta Golding is the latest cast member for the upcoming sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Golding, best known for her roles in Dark Blue, Day Break and Criminal Minds, will play Enobaria, a character with brutal killing techniques. [Slash Film]
- Paris Jackson’s bedroom wall is covered with photos of her late father, Michael Jackson. The 14-year-old tweeted: “A whole wall of his pics is the LEAST I could do.” [Us Weekly]
