Here’s what we’re talking about over our coffee and bagels this morning:
Living Single stars Ericka Alexander and Kim Coles are bringing their real-life friendship to YouTube in a new web series. The BFF chronicles will follow Alexander and Coles, who played Max and Sinclair on Living Single, as they share their crazy lives as best friends. The pair have been teasing the show on social media but there’s no word yet on when we can tune in. [Hello Beautiful]
A new accuser has come forward with sexual assault claims against Bill Cosby. Former model and actress Helen Gumpel said Cosby made advances at her when she made an appearance on his sitcom in 1988. She alleges that she was taken to his dressing room, given a drink and was told to sit on a couch. She then alleges that Cosby stood in front of her with his crotch in her face. Cosby and his attorney have yet to comment on this latest in over two dozen accusations. [Associated Press]
Yaya DaCosta is certainly staying busy. The Whitney star is set to play the lead in Chicago Med, a spin-off of the hit NBC series, Chicago Fire. DaCosta will play Maggie Seaver a nurse who’s dating Chicago Fire‘s Kelly (so it looks like there’ll be a little romance on this new show). This is the latest network program to have a Black lead following in the footsteps of Fox’s Empire and ABC’s Black-ish. We’re excited to see what’s to come. [Deadline]
Oprah Winfrey has fallen in love with a new book and she hopes you will too. Cynthia Bond’s Ruby is the latest addition to Oprah’s Book Club. The story of a Black woman named Ruby and her struggles living in her hometown is the first new selection to Oprah’s Book Club in over a year. Winfrey has also acquired film and television rights for the book so it looks like we’ll be seeing the story on the small or silver screen in the new future. [Yahoo! News]
